Get the GuideThe Planes & Trains Guided Tour treats visitors to a three-part tour of Grapevine Main Station & Observation Tower to watch planes take off from DFW Airport. It is followed by a stroll through the Historic Cotton Belt Depot and a one-hour excursion aboard the Grapevine Vintage Railroad!
This exciting, three-part guided tour experience that is fun for all ages starts 150-feet up in the air at the Grapevine Main Observation Tower, getting a unique view of Historic Main Street, the Grapevine Vintage Railroad and Train Depot and the expansive DFW International Airport. There's then a walk through Peace Plaza and photo op of our larger than life mural of Puffy, Grapevine’s 1896 steam engine. Next, you’re off for a short tour of the Cotton Belt Train Depot, built in 1888.
Then, your tour guide will escort you for the second part of the tour, a one-hour excursion aboard the Grapevine Vintage Railroad.
The third part of the tour is a ride aboard the Grapevine Visitor Shuttle down Grapevine’s Historic Downtown Main Street District, pausing at the 9/11 First Responders Flight Crew Memorial, then continuing on to DFW Founders Plaza where you will view incoming and outgoing planes from the many airlines utilizing DFW Airport, while hearing the control tower and pilots giving and receiving their runway instructions.
The tour begins and ends at the Visitor Information Center inside Grapevine Main Station, last three hours in duration, is offered most Saturdays and costs $22 per ticket.

Grapevine Vintage Railroad operates on tracks it shares with both commuter trains and freight trains. There will be times when our train is required to stop and wait for another train to cross in front of us or pass alongside us. While all railroads communicate their schedules with each other unexpected issues with freight trains may cause unavoidable delays.
The Grapevine Vintage Railroad does not offer refunds or compensation due to delays. On rare occasions, delays can be an hour or longer. Refunds will be given due to cancellation. We appreciate all of our guests and look forward to serving you the next time you visit us in Grapevine, Texas.
